Photo exhibitions in Rousse and Sofia will present the paradise in the Bulgarian section of the river

The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) announces a photo contest entitled "One river - dozens of paradise spots", dedicated to the International Danube Day, which is celebrated on 29 June.

The race can include anyone who has sealed a beautiful view along the river or on its coast. The requirements are that the photos have to be taken over the past year and a half and represent the Danube river. Their size must be between 2 MB and 6 MB. It is obligatory for the sender to indicate the name and address of the author, telephone, age, and a description of where the picture was taken. The MRDPW expects the photos to be emailed to the following email: fotodanube@mrrb.governement.bg, in the period from 3 May to 15 June 2018.

The top three, which will be determined by a special jury, will receive attractive prizes. There are also many encouraging awards.

The aim of the competition is to find the most beautiful places along the Danube, taken in the Bulgarian section, along 370 km between Vrav and Aydemir, and to show them to the general public at a special exhibition that the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works -Nikolay Nankov will open on June 29 in Rousse.

Some of the photos will be shown in the special exhibition of "The Lovers’ Bridge" in Sofia. It will be presented in October, in the framework of the Seventh Annual Danube Strategy Forum, which will be held together with a ministerial meeting on tourism. Three EU commissioners and more than 600 participants are expected to participate in the events: ministers, representatives of various institutions, the business sector and the non-governmental sector.

With the photo competition, the Bulgarian Danube River will be revealed as an attractive place for tourist visits, recreation and opportunities for development. Its theme is directly related to the main focus of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Danube Strategy - regional tourism as a generator of economic growth and a key factor in addressing environmental, socio-economic and demographic challenges. An important theme in our agenda is also the cultural heritage of the EU policies, as a resource for sustainable development - in the context and also the fact that 2018 is a European Year of Cultural Heritage.

Bulgaria is the Chairman of the Danube Strategy for a period of one year - until October 2018. Two of the events in the calendar were successfully held and on 25 May, in Sofia, the next joint meeting of the National Coordinators and Coordinators of Priority Areas will discuss the optimal opportunities for successful implementation of the macro-regional strategy.
