We have been working together with the contractor over the last months to ease the traffic as much as possible for the Bulgarian citizens and get it up and running before the Easter holidays. This was said by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works architect Ivan Shishkov at the opening of a 7.5 km section of the road from Mezdra to Botevgrad. The section was opened to traffic with a Bulgarian sports car, coloured with the national tricolour, to test the route. “The Cabinet, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the construction industry appreciate the Bulgarian way and the way we can help ourselves and build the infrastructure we need,” the regional minister said.

Engineer Yordan Yonov, a representative of the contractor, urged drivers to respect the restrictions so that everyone could get home to their families.

Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovchan served a blessing for a safe journey on the newly built route.

Guests at the ceremony were Deputy Minister Nikolay Shushkov, Governor of Sofia Region Radoslav Stoychev, Chairperson of the Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency Ventsislav Angelov, Desislava Paunova - member of the Board of the Agency, mayors of settlements in the region, CEO of Geostroy, Engineer Vladimir Vutov, CEO of Geotechmin Ltd, Dominic Hammers and others.
