Bulgarian and UK companies could cooperate in project implementation in road infrastructure, water and waste water, and motorway concessions. This was one of the conclusions reached at their meeting by Minister Valentine Tserovski and the UK Minister of Construction and SMEs Nigel Griffiths. The meeting was attended by Ministry officials and businessmen accompanying Mr. Griffiths on his visit to Bulgaria. Bulgaria offers excellent investment opportunities and the investment climate has improved in recent years, emphasised Minister Tserovski, who briefed his British counterpart on the Ministry’s priority sectors in public infrastructure development, including: roads and motorways, water and waste water systems, land improvements and embankments. Minister Tserovski pointed out also that the Bulgarian professionals in the field could draw on UK Experience in water management, motorway tolling systems, and public-private partnerships in major projects. The establishment of Bulgarian-British joint ventures would open up further opportunities for the transfer of know-how, the penetration of third markets and the strengthening of the Bulgarian companies’ competitiveness. The British businessmen asked for information on the leading Bulgarian construction companies and expressed their willingness to establish contacts with the Bulgarian Construction Chamber. Minister Tserovski assured them that the Ministry’s team would be ready to provide its full assistance with the setting of meetings between Bulgarian and British entrepreneurs. Minister Griffiths invited Minister Tserovski to visit the United Kingdom in the nearest future.
