Experts from “Transparency International” are going to take part in the preparation work of the tender documen

The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Rosen Plevneliev and the Executive Director of “Transparency International” – Bulgaria Diana Kovatcheva signed an Agreement for collaboration today, between the Ministry and the Association.

The agreement will secure the better interaction on the issue of the prevention and counteractions against corruption, raising the public trust in the institutions and enhancing public control over important infrastructure projects.

Minister Rosen Plevneliev announced that experts from the association will participate in the preparation of tender documents for the “Trakia” Highway. Their representatives will be able to in the tender commission of the highway building works.

The Minister pointed out that the Agreement will include other big infrastructure projects – the “Trakia” Highway, the “Maritsa” Highway, the “Struma” Highway, as well as the projects of the Operational Program “Regional Development”.

Representatives of “Transparency International” will help the Ministry with expert help in order to prevent corruption practices.

Diana Kovatcheva noted that the Agreement was being signed five years after the Association has started its observation work over the deal for “Trakia” Highway. She added that the independent civil control over strategic deals of public significance is one of their trade marks, and handed the Minister an Medial Report – an investigation of the concession for the building of “Trakia” Highway since April 2005.

Minister Plevneliev underlined that he will get acquainted with the Report, and on the event of any discrepancies and law abuses, will undertake all the necessary measures.
