Minister Nikolay Nankov: Our major priority will be the Renovation Programme and the water reform

The introduction of a toll tax, the implementation of the Regions in Growth OP, cadaster, the construction control and the spatial planning are also among the priorities of the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works

Our major priority will be to continue the Renovation Programme. We have to complete the water reform, the cadaster, the construction control and the spatial planning, he said. We will keep on standing up for the national interests in the sphere of the road infrastructure with at least the same pace.

This was stated today by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Nikolay Nankov at a ceremony in the Ministry during which he assumed the post from the Minister in the caretaker government Spas Popnikolov.

As his priorities minister Nankov defined the improvement of the road network state in the North Bulgaria, the completion of Hemus and Struma motorways, the toll tax introduction, the successful implementation of Operational Programme the Regions in Growth and the preparation for the next programming period. 

In the short term, within the forthcoming few days, he is setting up the team of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works as well as to get acquainted with the work done in the caretaker government mandate, stated minister Nikolay Nankov. 

Popnikolov informed that a progress has been achieved concerning the priority set together with the caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Malina Krumova regarding the completion of Struma motorway as the application forms for Lot 3.1., Lot 3.3 and Zheleznitsa tunnel have been approved by Jaspers which is the reason Bulgaria to tangibly make use of the European funds for them.  He wished Nikolay Nankov completion of these projects’ construction as well as an application form to be prepared for Lot 3.2 within Nankov’s mandate.

Spas Popnikolov thanked the Ministry’s officers and declared that he gives minister Nankov the report on the works done in the mandate of the caretaker cabinet.

The Minister emphasized that he will rely on the expertise and the support of the ministry’s team as he commented that his work as part of it during the two mandates makes him optimistic about carrying out the upcoming tasks.
