On the 16th and 17th November, 2009, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Rosen Plevneliev and Deputy-Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva will take part in the XVI conference of the European Ministers responsible for the local and regional governments. The forum will take place in the town of Utrecht, Kingdom of the Netherlands, under the slogan “Good local and regional government in turbulent times: The challenge of change”.
The impact of the economic crisis over the local and regional governments and cross-border cooperation are going to be discussed during the conference. Experience and good practices referring to the issues of local and regional democracy and good management will be exchanged, through which the challenges in this field can be overcome.
It is expected that at this forum an Agenda from Utrecht will be voted, covering the challenges in the field of local and regional governments that the member-countries of the Council of Europe will be facing over the period 2010 – 2013.
