Minister Plevneliev and the Turkish Ambassador in Bulgaria His Excellency Mehmet Gücük discussed today some opportunities for collaboration in the field of infrastructure projects, building and cross-border cooperation.

The aim of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works is to help businesses develop and to provide the macro-economic stability of the country, said Minister Plevneliev. An ambitious program has been worked out, including big infrastructure projects, which will allow a lot of new companies to participate in them. He invited the Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Gücük to introduce these projects to the representatives of the construction branch in Turkey, so that they can take part in their realization. During the meeting, the participants agreed that all the projects that are due, need to be based on the European legislation and practice if they are to be successfully implemented.

During the meeting, Minister Plevneliev paid special attention to the Program of Cross-border Collaboration between Bulgaria and Turkey. Despite the limited budget of the Program for the period 2007-2013 – EUR 11,814 million – “We are going to do anything that is possible so that it can work effectively, and so that we can realize good projects under it”, Minister Plevneliev emphasized.
