Minister Popnikolov inspected the final stage of the activities on Echemishka tunnel on Hemus motorway

Minister of Regional Development and Public Works eng. Spas Popnikolov inspected today the installation of electric cables which the emergency lighting will be secured by to be released the traffic through Echemishka tunnel on Hemus motorway. The activities on the restoration of the two-way traffic through the pipe finishes in full mobilization. It is imminent The tunnel to be thoroughly cleaned and audited by a committee from the Road Infrastructure Agency /RIA/ and the Ministry of Interior for establishing its safe state.

We remind that right after the end of the investigative actions and based on the decision of the special appointed by RIA committee, the road maintenance company began dismantling of the old lighting construction in Echemishka tunnel. The aim was to restore the traffic through the pipe to Sofia as soon as possible and to facilitate it in secured safety for travelers with indicative deadline by 14 February at the latest. It is expected the two-way traffic through the left pipe of Echemishka tunnel to be released on 13 February.
