He informed that the builder of the Dragoman - border checkpoint Kalotina section has promised that by the end of May the route will be fully completed and open to traffic.

“We are making every effort before the summer to be open so that people can travel safely,” Shishkov said, adding that construction of the last section of the motorway between Sofia and Slivnitsa is expected to start in the next 20 days. By the end of next year this section should be ready as well.

“I am glad that we will have a finished motorway because when we have roads everything is easier for business and especially for the relations between ordinary people”, the Serbian ambassador said at the meeting.

In the course of the talks, it also became clear that the expansion of the border crossing is expected to be completed by the end of August.
