Over EUR 1 million are the funds granted by Phare Program for cross-border cooperation (CBC) to NGOs, schools and municipalities in the border regions with Greece. The means are ensured by the Joint Small Projects Fund (JSPF) between Bulgaria and Greece under the Financing Memoranda for 2001 and 2002. “The successes of these projects cannot be measured in figures and dimensions, because they “invest” in the human relations “from people to people”. The interpretation and analyzing of the figures underline the leading role of JSPF for the support of NGOs, schools and the library clubs in the region of Kardjali, Smolyan, Blagoevgrad and Haskovo”. That was the statement of the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and Head of Phare Program in MRDPW Mr. Dimcho Mihalevsky. He met in Kardjali the project contactors for Bulgaria-Greece CBC projects financed under Phare. Deputy Minister Mihalevsky presented certificates to all organizations which have realized projects for cooperation with Greece in 2005. During the meeting were introduced the projects which are to be carried out in the following year. In the next 11 months will be realized 12 projects in the area of tourism, cultural exchange, environmental protection and economical development. The total amount of the signed in November contracts is EUR 506 227. Public Relations and International Activities Directorate
