The first work meeting of Minister Plevneliev with Ambassadors from the European Union

12 Oct 2009 | 15:49

Today the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Rosen Plevneliev and the Deputy Minsters from his team Ekaterina Mihailova, Liliana Pavlova and Georgi Pregijov met the Ambassadors from the European Union at a business breakfast at the Sheraton Hotel. During the talks the foreign representatives showed interest in the way of work of the euro-funds and the operational programs, as well as the decentralization.

Minister Plevneliev assured the Ambassadors that the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works does not work in the direction of Bulgarian municipalities’ shutdown. The aim of the Ministry is to teach them how to cooperate so that each single one wouldn’t need to survive on its own. What the municipalities need, according to the Minister, is more executed projects with money from the euro-funds.

The minister emphasized that what the Ministry is most interested in is the quality of the proposed projects, and thus answered the question about the projects that have been stopped in municipalities governed by GERB.

The Ambassadors expressed their wish for us to prepare faster for the major infrastructure objects, as they are ready to support us with know-how, and according to the Minister, this obliges us to accumulate huge resources over a short period of time.

The next meeting between Minister Plevneliev and the Ambassadors from the European Union will be in December this year.
