The tender procedure for “Trakia” Highway is launched today

At 14.00h today, the Public Procurement Agency has been informed about the launch of the tender procedure of the construction of Lot 2 from “Trakia” Highway, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Rosen Plevneliev informed during the tender procedure’s official announcement.

The facility provides for the construction of a section of the Stara Zagora - Nova Zagora division, with length of 31.800 kilometers (from km 210 +100 to km 241 +900).

Minister Plevneliev said that if the timetable is met, on the 3rd May, 2010, the first sod of Lot 2 should be turned.

Mr. Rosen Plevneliev said that a lot of Bulgarian and foreign companies have shown an interest in participating in the procedure, and that he hopes that 10-15 companies with serious capacity and opportunity to build the facility will participate.

The companies will be able to purchase the tender documents from Monday on, the 16th November. Then it will be published on the site of the  “Road Infrastructure” Agency. The deadline for preparation of tenders is 2 months - until 11th January, 2010. The contractor should be selected in late March or early April next year. Minister Plevneliev said that he hoped for a fair, honest race in which the best will win.

Deputy-Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Mr. Georgi Pregyov said that one of the conditions to be met by applicants is to have income from activities similar to the subject of the order, amounting to 200 million EUR for the period 2006 – 2008. For a period of five years, companies must have completed at least 35 kilometers aggregate objects that are similar to the subject matter of the contract - highways, roads from the national road network first and second class, or treated as equal technical parameters to those. Applicants must submit a timetable for the implementation of construction works within 25 months.
