There are 53 buildings with unclear status of construction in the 10-kilometre zone before the cross-border checkpoint Captain Andreevo and we are ready to start an immediate complex check-up and draw up the necessary statements against the owners of the illegal buildings, said Minister Valentin Cerovski during his visit to the cross-border checkpoint. The visit was in relation with a decision of the Government for undertaking measures to facilitate the cross-border passage. Measures and activities planned by the DNCS in respect with the constructions in the 10-kilometre zone will have been implemented by the end of May. Minister Cerovski added that the experts from the Ministry of the Regional Development and Public Works would do their best to preserve the business in the proximity of the checkpoint. However, the buildings have to acquire a more aesthetic appearance, and the zone to be cleared out of the garbage, which is of the Svilengrad Municipality responsibility. The MRDPW has developed a project for enlargement of the cross-border checkpoint Captain Andreevo, which will be presented to Turkey for agreement, announced Mrs. Boyana Chavdarova, Director of Regional Development Programming to the MRDPW. The plan also includes increasing the number of roadways at the entrance and exit of the point. Another commitment of the Ministry, which will have been completed by the end of February, is to improve the booths of the Management of Tolls and Licences with the aim of facilitating and speeding up the service of lorries. A second weighbridge for lorries will be constructed at the exit of the cross-border checkpoint. About 4 mil.leva will be necessary for the reconstruction of the road surface in the zone for traffic of lorries because of collapses and denivelation of the platform, said Minister Valentin Cerovski. Other 6 mil. leva are needed to increase the number of the roadways. The specific measures for improvement and facilitation of the border passage /indicated in the reports of the different departments in charge of cross-border control/ will be discussed and agreed by the Interdepartmental Council for Cross-Border Checkpoints Activities.
